in search of place

in these works a connection to place is explored through large scale collagraphs, casts in plaster made from hand/rock imprints, crushed rock earth pigments painted onto cloth, chinese ink rock rubbings transposed into photopolymer prints and film installation

fieldwork took place at kimmeridge bay in dorset on the Jurassic south coast of england

this deeply personal collection of artworks investigate the matter and materiality of this coastline and consider themes of loss, identity and belonging

the individual works explore the formations and fracturing of rocks and the process of environmental change over geological time, while evidencing a physical ‘trace’ of a personal connection to place

this dynamic approach to landscape relates to the interconnectedness of organic and inorganic matter, the human and non-human, and puts forward an intimate sense of place and time with environment
